Bryce E. Lefever, Ph.D..
Dr. Bryce Lefever is a Board Certified Clinical Psychologist and an active duty Naval Officer. He received his Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Illinois in 1989. He has held academic appointments at five universities, most recently as adjunct Associate Professor of Psychology at Old Dominion University.
Dr. Lefever has taught topics ranging from the psychology of interpersonal relationships to the psychology of captivity and brainwashing. In the past decade, Dr. Lefever has provided dozens of seminars ranging from two to four days in 8 countries as well as ships at sea. He has also served as an expert witness in dozens of legal cases, both civil and criminal.
As an
internationally recognized expert in trauma and post-traumatic stress,
Dr. Lefever was consulted to develop a leadership curriculum for Navy
Special Forces and is an expert in the treatment of trauma and combat
stress debriefing. He has served with distinction on several national
boards and committees dealing with mental health, including the
American Psychological Association Presidential Task Force on
Psychological Ethics and National Security. Subsequent to PENS, Dr. Lefever has called for empiricists, ethicists, behavioral researchers, academicians, and philosophers needed to debate and decide what constitutes torture and the effect of context on the topography of behavior of psychologists.
Dr. Lefever is an innovator in responsibility-based clinical psychology. He is married to Dr. Shyla Lefever.
